Middle School Celebrates the RenaissancePosted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 The middle school team and special subject teachers coordinated a celebration of the Renaissance that took place over the course of two days last week. (If you’ve been wondering why Queen Elizabeth was tasked with directing traffic during carpool last Thursday, you now have your answer!). The two day unit was the result of countless hours spent planning and integrating all aspects of the curriculum to provide a unique hands-on learning experience for all of our middle school students. The celebration included opportunities for students to learn about the history of the Renaissance in tangible ways, such as juggling, brass rubbing projects, music and dance, theatrical presentations, and of course, feasting! Thank you to the teachers for their creativity in planning such an engaging experience for the students. Thank you to the parents who worked behind the scenes, especially in support of the Medieval Banquet. We also wish to extend a word of thanks to Mrs. Susan Howell, owner of A Antique Design, for loaning us one “knight in shining armor” and other items related to the Renaissance. |
