Peace & Justice Players ~ Serving the HomelessPosted Wednesday, May 23, 2007 So much to do, so little time. The last of this year’s trips for The Peace and Justice Players took place on Monday, May 21st. For the second time this year they made baked ziti and salad and brought it along with hot bread sticks to S.E.R.V.E. The students were, as always, welcomed and thanked for the “great dinner” by the residents. “Mr. Matt”, the Director, in speaking with the P & J Players warmly commended them for their work for the homeless. They, in turn, explained the reasons for their giving: “I like to put a smile on peoples’ faces”, and “Love is from the heart, and I want to share it”. “Mr. Matt” was overwhelmed because he doesn’t often see 7th & 8th graders giving the time to cook and serve others. He is delighted that the whole school used their Lenten soup lunch to provide for this food. His last words were that he really loves everyone at All Saints School. After the children at S.E.R.V.E. were finished, our students cleaned their playroom and everyone played with bubbles and hula hoops until we had to leave. One little four-year-old cried because we were leaving, which gave the Players some sense of what we do for others. Before the 8th graders graduate all the Players will have a gardening day around the school and sponsor a food drive for B.A.R.N. Look for more details next week!
